"Explore the Luxurious Listing in the Italian Alps with a Swarovski Chandelier, Cinema, Gym, and Atrium!" Dec 28, 2023

A luxury ski chalet in the Italian Alps, boasting extravagant features such as a helipad, indoor pool, and outdoor whirlpool bath with a breathtaking view of the Matterhorn, has hit the market for a staggering €24m (£21m), clinching the title of the region's priciest listing. This opulent 13,000 sq ft property, named Chalet La Fenice—Italian for the phoenix—has finally been listed on Savills after undergoing an extensive and costly five-year renovation. Originally constructed in the 1930s, the historically listed building retains its charming stone exterior and had been frequented by the Italian royal family. With seven en-suite bedrooms, including some with private balconies, a gym, private cinema, wine cellar, ski room, multiple fireplaces, and an atrium adorned with a stunning Swarovski chandelier, this six-floor masterpiece offers an unparalleled level of luxurious living. The current owner, John Harrison, a former partner and COO of Swiss hedge fund manager Amplitude Capital, purchased the property in 2015 and decided to embark on an ambitious renovation project almost immediately. The renovation process was expertly handled by an Italian architect specializing in luxurious high-altitude properties

With the assistance of a police-escorted dynamite crew from Turin, a basement was created within the mountainside, housing a magnificent 10-meter indoor pool that affords breathtaking panoramic views. Additionally, guests can indulge in a Turkish bath and various treatment rooms. According to Bloomberg, Harrison revealed that he has already received numerous offers for the property since completing the renovations in 2021. However, he primarily rents it out to holidaymakers who are willing to pay up to €65,000 for a six-night stay. With nine months of skiing opportunities per year, the area surrounding the chalet offers an excellent destination for winter sports enthusiasts. Guests staying at Chalet La Fenice also enjoy easy access to the charming village of Cervinia, which initially gained prominence as a climbing village and ultimately transformed into one of Italy's top ski destinations

Moreover, guests have the added convenience of a cable car ride to the popular Swiss ski area of Zermatt.
