"Fentanyl Overdose Spike in Lethbridge, AB: RCMP Issues Warning" Dec 28, 2023

Officers from the Alberta RCMP have issued a media release warning about the increasing prevalence and dangers of fentanyl. They state that many of the recent overdoses are a result of the dangerous practice of cutting fentanyl with other substances to create a cheaper high. This mixing of fentanyl with other substances also reduces the effectiveness of naloxone, the opioid overdose reversal drug. As a result, more doses are often required to save someone's life, if it works at all. To ensure your own safety and the safety of others while using illicit drugs, the RCMP offers some tips

One tip is to report any information about illegal activity related to fentanyl or any other drug to your local police. Another option for remaining anonymous when reporting such information is to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). They can be reached through their website, www.P3Tips.com, or via the "P3 Tips" app available on both Apple App and Google Play store. To report crime online or access RCMP news and information, the Alberta RCMP app is available for download on Apple and Google Play. For any news tips, questions, or concerns, an email can be sent to Lethbridge.newsroom@Pattisonmedia.com. These measures are in place to address the growing dangers of fentanyl and to ensure the safety of the community

It is important to stay informed and take action to prevent further harm caused by this dangerous drug.
