Once Human, the upcoming co-op survival MMO developed by Starry Studio, offers a darker post-apocalyptic experience for those who crave something different from Fallout 76. With an initial player count of 20,000, the closed beta test on Steam proved so successful that it was extended to accommodate a whopping 50,000 players. Set to be released in Q3 2024, Once Human takes place in a world ravaged by a cataclysmic event where an alien entity called Stardust has infested everything. As a meta-human with no recollection of their past, players must uncover the truth behind Stardust's origins and its intentions
However, this won't be an easy task, as they navigate the complex dynamics of the five factions vying for power in this new world. Despite being a meta-human, players are not invincible. The pollution caused by Stardust affects everything, including food and water. Similar to Fallout 76, consuming contaminated provisions negatively impacts one's Sanity, consequently lowering maximum HP
In true MMO fashion, Once Human allows players to team up with friends, or go solo if they prefer. Players will embark on quests to collect gear, discover blueprints for over 100 weapons spread across seven categories, build and defend their Territory Core, and face formidable enemies that were once human. In addition, players can challenge otherworldly bosses to gain powerful items and suppress the spread of Stardust. Alternatively, players can adopt a more ruthless approach, reminiscent of Hunt: Showdown, and profit from the efforts of others by eliminating them and claiming their gear
The choice is ultimately theirs to make. For additional information and the opportunity to participate in future beta tests, players can visit the official Once Human website.
