Miller Moss had an impressive first career start on Wednesday night in the Holiday Bowl against No. 15 Louisville. It was a day to remember for the third-year quarterback from Los Angeles. In the first half, Moss threw four touchdown passes, giving USC a comfortable 28-14 lead over the Cardinals at halftime
Two of those touchdowns were caught by Tahj Washington, one by Kyron Hudson, and another by Ja'Kobi Lane. Moss showcased his skills by opting for both short and long passes. The first touchdown came on a simple play to Washington on a shallow cross, where he made two defenders miss and took off for a touchdown. The second touchdown pass was a result of an excellent play by Washington, who caught a lobbed ball from Moss over a defender from the 29-yard line
Moss then displayed his accuracy with a bullet pass to Hudson, squeezing the ball into a tight window for a 9-yard touchdown. Moss did not let up in USC's final possession of the first half, leading a quick touchdown drive consisting of five plays and covering 75 yards. He completed four passes to different receivers, connecting with Lane for a 31-yard touchdown to cap off the drive. By halftime, Moss had completed 13 of his 18 passes for 218 yards and four touchdowns. He also showcased his mobility by rushing twice for 13 yards and avoiding any sacks. With the potential departure of Caleb Williams to the NFL Draft, USC has been actively searching in the transfer portal for a new quarterback
While the Trojans have been linked to Kansas State transfer Will Howard, Moss's strong performance in the first half gave him a chance to audition for the job. He certainly took full advantage of the opportunity, leaving a lasting impression with his impressive display of talent.
