Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Logan Thompson will start against the Anaheim Ducks on Wednesday, returning after a two-game absence due to an upper-body injury. Thompson had been removed from a game against the Carolina Hurricanes on December 19th after giving up his sixth goal. Coach Bruce Cassidy confirmed that Thompson is medically cleared to play and ready to make his return. Meanwhile, Jiri Patera, who started the past two games, will serve as the backup goalie against the Ducks. Patera performed well in his previous game, making 38 saves in a loss to the Florida Panthers on Saturday. Thompson has a record of 10-5-3 this season with a 2.71 goals-against average and .905 save percentage
Additionally, there is a possibility that Adin Hill may return and start for the Golden Knights in their game against the Los Angeles Kings on Thursday. Hill has only made one appearance this month due to a lower-body injury. In Toronto Maple Leafs news, defenseman Mark Giordano participated in the team's morning skate but did not play in their recent game against the Ottawa Senators. Giordano has been sidelined since November 28th due to a broken thumb. Lastly, Columbus Blue Jackets forward Sean Kuraly is day-to-day with an abdominal injury and did not play in their recent game against the New Jersey Devils. Kuraly was injured during a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs and collapsed while heading down the tunnel. The extent of his injury is currently unknown.
