"Reclaim Your Sanity: Master Gmail's Inbox with Bulk Message Management" Dec 28, 2023

Good News: Take Control of Your Gmail Inbox with These Quick Steps We’ve all experienced the overwhelming feeling that comes with an overflowing Gmail inbox, filled with thousands of unread messages that seem to taunt us at every glance. The red notification icon only adds to the stress, serving as a constant reminder of the task we’ve been avoiding. But fear not, because there is a way to regain control and conquer that overwhelming email load. Thankfully, Gmail offers simple solutions to either mark your entire inbox as read or delete all your mail. If you prefer to keep your messages for future reference but want to eliminate those pesky notifications, here’s what you need to do: 1

Open Gmail on your desktop computer since this feature is not available on the mobile app. 2. Locate the checkbox below the search bar at the top left of your inbox; this will enable you to select all visible messages on the screen. 3. A prompt will appear, asking if you want to select ALL mail from the inbox. 4. Click on the “Mark as read” button located above your emails (it's the one with an open envelope). 5

Confirm your selection, and voila! Your inbox will be free from those anxiety-inducing unread labels. If you happen to change your mind, fear not. The "undo" link is conveniently located at the bottom right, allowing you to reverse the process quickly. Alternatively, if you prefer, you can mark your entire inbox as unread by following the same steps and selecting the mark as read icon (although, why would you want to do that?). For those seeking a more permanent solution and a complete clearing of your account, deleting everything is also an option: 1. Log into Gmail on your desktop and select all messages as before by using the top checkbox. 2

Don't forget to respond to the prompt to select all mail. 3. This time, click on the trash can icon located above your emails to permanently delete them. 4. Confirm the deletion when prompted. Keep in mind that your messages can still be retrieved from the Trash for up to 30 days, taking up valuable storage. To permanently purge everything, be sure to empty the bin. While the steps are straightforward, clearing or removing thousands of Gmail messages may take a few seconds, depending on the volume of mail in your inbox

So sit back, relax, and let Google work its magic after you complete these actions. We can only hope that this feature will eventually make its way to the mobile apps, eliminating the need to rely on a laptop every time.
