Shane Warne's children were in for a surprise when they stumbled upon their late father's extensive collection of golf clubs while going through his belongings. Warne, a renowned cricket player, was known for his love of golf and even scored a hole in one on the 16th hole at Augusta. His son Jackson revealed the sheer volume of golf attire his father had accumulated, with approximately 300 drivers, 400 putters, and countless golf bags. This discovery prompted the siblings to launch the Shane Warne Legacy initiative, urging Australians to get their hearts tested on one of 23 machines situated outside the MCG
This number was specifically chosen as a tribute to Warne, who wore the number 23 in white ball cricket. Sadly, Warne passed away at the age of 52 from a sudden heart attack while in Thailand. Jackson mentioned that there are 23 machines set up all around the ground, allowing anyone attending the game or even watching from home to get a heart test. The initiative holds special significance to the family as they believe Warne would be honored that his legacy is potentially saving lives
Former teammate Ricky Ponting, who experienced his own heart scare while on commentary duty last year, spoke in support of the initiative and mentioned that he and Justin Langer would be taking the test themselves. Jackson explained that the heart test is non-invasive and takes less than four minutes to complete. By simply gripping handlebars and wearing a compression sleeve on the arm, individuals can receive valuable health information to make positive changes. Reflecting on his father's legacy, Jackson joked about Warne's love for "big and shiny" things, adding that he would find it amusing to know he has the largest stand in the MCG and the southern hemisphere.
