"Reflecting on the Eventful Year: Saying Goodbye to 2023" Dec 28, 2023

2023: A Year of Events and Reflections As we bid farewell to 2023, it's important to take a moment and appreciate the impactful events and stories that defined the year. While we didn't experience a major winter storm in the Lehigh Valley, a brief snowfall event in late January graced us with its presence, only to vanish within hours. Unfortunately, the Easton area wasn't as fortunate, as it faced a couple of major fires. One of these fires led to the displacement of families from their row homes in Easton's West Ward, while another one destroyed an industrial building in West Easton. Moreover, we were confronted with a dire situation when the Canadian wildfires caused hazardous levels of air quality throughout the region for several days in early June. Such challenges tested our resilience and ability to adapt. Additionally, the Lehigh Valley experienced severe flooding damage during the July storms, highlighting the ever-present threat of nature's fury. Despite these obstacles, the area's athletes showcased remarkable talent and determination across various sports

In a moment of triumph, the Voorhees football team emerged victorious over North Hunterdon in the long-awaited Milk Can game, proudly taking home the coveted title for the first time in 12 years. Moreover, Bethlehem Catholic's wrestling team, Delaware Valley Regional and North Hunterdon wrestling teams all clinched team state titles, highlighting their hard work and dedication. Meanwhile, Emmaus' field hockey team secured a state championship title, solidifying their place among the elite. The Northwestern Lehigh football team delivered an exceptional season, with an undefeated record. Although they ultimately fell short in the PIAA Class 3A football championship, losing to Belle Vernon, their achievements left an indelible mark on the season. Throughout the year, our dedicated staff and freelancers at lehighvalleylive.com tirelessly pursued the most captivating moments, going the extra mile to capture the essence of our region. As 2023 draws to a close, we've combed through thousands of photos to curate a collection of our 100 most memorable shots from the year
